Lanzarote has proved to be one of the most popular all year round destinations thanks to its warm climate and almost guaranteed sunshine. Flights take you to Arrecife and take about 4ΒΌ hours from the UK. It is only 37 miles long and 12 miles wide, so getting around the island is relatively easy. You can usually be guaranteed warm weather in Lanzarote and sunshine making it an excellent choice of destination if you’re looking for some winter sunshine.

What to do
The island has one water park in Costa Teguise next to the golf course. It has the usual slides for children of all ages.
Karting. The island has two Karting tracks. One in Puerto del Carmen, Gran Karting and the other in St Bartholomew
Rancho Texas Park is a western theme park in Puerto del Carmen. The park has a nature park, an indian village and themed restaurants.
There is also the Blue Delfin, a glass bottomed catamaran. The boat leaves from Puerto del Carmen for excursions, which range from a 9 hour trip to nearby Fuerterventura to a shorter 1 hour trip. The boat has toilets and food and drink available. You can view the sea life from a viewing area to the rear of the boat.
Leaving from Puerto Calero marina there is a Submarine Safari, where you get to see the sea life of Lanzarote normally only seen by divers. Please note however, that children under the age of 2 are not permitted on the submarine.
Guinate Tropical Park is situated on the north of the island. It is a park with over 1000 tropical birds and animals. You can spend an enjoyable day there watching the parrot show, relaxing in the restaurant or walking around the gardens. There is a children’s play area and baby changing facilities.
Beaches
Playa Blanca is a small beach with golden sand and calm waters. The resort itself was once a fishing village and still retains some of its atmosphere. Its tranquil atmosphere makes it popular with families. You can also take a short ferry ride across to Fuerteventura.
Puerto del Carmen is the largest tourist resort. It covers a succession of beaches stretching over 6 kilometers. The beaches are generally sandy with calm waters and offer water sports all the year round.
Costa Teguise is the second largest tourist area in Lanzarote and the nearest to the capital. Its main beach, Las Cucharas has fine sand and calm waters. It has easy access and is renowned for its wind surfing all year round.
