Mallorca

Mallorca can get quite busy in high season and is not as quiet as it’s sister Menorca and perhaps isn’t the place to go if you want a relaxing break away from the mayhem of everyday life. However, it has some fantastic sandy beaches and array of sports and activities on offer. Flights from the UK take approximately 2 hours and you’ll fly to Palma airport.
There is a vast choice of accommodation, too. You can book a package holiday staying in a hotel or try some self catering in an apartment.
also has some fantastic villas if you’d like some privacy and the luxury of your own pool perhaps.
Alternatively, have some beautiful cottages available on the island.
Alcudia
About 1 hour from the airport, Alcudia is one of the most popular resorts for families. It has a 10 kilometre stretch of sandy beach and is ideal for older children wanting to sail or windsurf. Water skiing and diving are also available and the more sedate fishing. Horse riding is increasingly popular again for the older children.
You’ll find an abundance of restaurants if you want to eat out.
Palma and Magaluf
About 30 minutes from the airport this is the busiest resort on the island and unless you have teenage children, it is perhaps not the ideal location for young children and babies. It has a busy night life and is the most developed resort. It is quieter out of season and has some great attractions for days out.
Western Water Park in Magaluf is a water park based on the wild west. It has various restaurants and a live show plus many other attractions to keep everyone entertained. For more information you can visit their website, although it’s in Spanish you can get a feel for what you can find there.
Aqualand in Magaluf is a fantastic water park for all of the family. There is a snack bar there and free parking.
Pirates adventure in Palma is the ultimate pirate show. It is a fantastic experience that will certainly entertain you!
Cala D’or
This picturesque resort is built around the marina and is about 1hour 15 minutes from the airport. It has a great family atmosphere and ideal for quiet holiday, but not for the beach lovers.
Santa Ponsa
This is about 30 minutes from the airport on the south west coast of te island. It is another quiet resort, which is ideal for families who like to explore.
Pollensa
On the north west coast of the island and just over an hour away from the airport. It has small natural beaches as well as a main sandy beach. It is quiet and relaxing; ideal for young families. Alcudia is a short drive away.
Cala Millor
Found on the east coast it is ideal for families wanting a beach holiday with its beautiful sandy beach and clean, shallow water.
Fantasy Park outdoor play area with inflatables and rides for the children is excellent entertainment.
Glass bottomed boats make regular trips along the scenic coast.
