Menorca

20 March 2008

Menorca is an ideal holiday for young children and babies. It is a small and picturesque island off the south coast of Spain with more beaches that its neighbours, Majorca and Ibiza . If you are looking for a relaxing break then Menorca is for you. However, the island really is small and if you have children who want more than a beach and a pool you may find yourself running out of things to do especially if the weather is not so good.

Because Menorca is so popular you’ll find that summer holidays are booked up very quickly, so you’ll need to book well in advance. Flight times are only about 2 hours from the UK landing at Mahon airport. Transfer times to any resort are usually short too.

is ideal for renting a villa too. You can choose a villa to suit your requirements and also keep to your families routine.

Food and Drink
The water in Menorca has a high mineral content, so it is best to drink bottled water. “Aqua con gas” is sparkling water. “Aqua sin gas” is still water.

What to do there
The beaches -
Most of your holiday will be spent on the beach. There are after all over 100 to choose from. From small sandy coves to stretches of white sand there is a beach to suit everyone. It may well be worth your while hiring a car , so that you can get to visit different beaches each day.
Waterparks
Los Delfines Aqua Park near Ciutadella has plenty of rides for all the family as well as bouncy castles, trampolines and a jacuzzi. There’s a restaurant on site for food and drinks as well as a picnic area.
Aqua Rock waterpark in Cala` n Bosch. Again there are several rides, tramplolines and a restaurant. Adults and older children can also try Karting.
