Normandy

Normandy, on the west tip of France is renowned for it’s relaxing atmosphere. You really can’t help, but relax here. Despite it’s annual tourist invasion it remains relatively unspoilt.
Getting there
By far the easiest way to get to Normandy is by ferry.
You can also fly to Orly and Roisy- Charles de Gaulle, but then you’d need to take a train to Nomandy, which really could be a hassle travelling with children.

Getting around when you are there
By car
You can arrange to hire a car before you get there, which will be ready waiting for you to collect.
By train
The french rail system is known as one of the best in Europe.


Accommodation

Normandy has plenty of accommodation to chose from whether you are travelling on a budget or looking or some luxury, you will find what you are looking for.

Climate
Generally you will find that Normandy is warm. It does rain sometimes, but you’ll find more sun than rain.
It can quite hot in the summer months with temperatures of up to 30 degrees. Overall Normandy has the ideal climate for young children and babies, but remember to take care in the sun and the heat.

What to do
Normandy offers some beautiful, empty golden beaches, a wealth of landscape as well as some activities for you and your children to enjoy.
For example there is:
The Aquatic Centre in Falaise with a toddler area. It has waterslides and even a sauna for the grown ups.
Festyland theme park in Bretteville-sur-odon, near Caen. Great for young children with lots of rides, a circus and a small petting zoo. Near by is the beautiful beach at Lion Sur Mer.
La Cite de la mer in Cherbourg
Zoos in Jurques and Mont-Saint-Michel and Granville.
Reptilarium in Mont-Saint-Michel. A great day out for children and adults. You’ll find different reptiles such as chameleons, iguanas, tortoises, alligators and crocodiles . There is also a picnic area.

There are also plenty of excellent markets where you can stock up on local produce and good restaurants for meals out.
