Travelling to France with children can be a great adventure and because France is so close to the UK it opens up so many opportunities. You can get there either by plane, boat or train; it is entirely up to you. You can also chose what type of accommodation suits you best. The options are endless; do you hire a tent, a mobile home, a cottage or stay in a bed and breakfast or hotel. You could even take your own tent, camper or caravan and travel around to your hearts content. We could be here forever discussing every permeation available to you, so we have chosen a few options to look at and offer you guidance on where to find out more.
Normandy

Normandy, on the west tip of France is renowned for it’s relaxing atmosphere. You really can’t help, but relax here. Despite it’s annual tourist invasion it remains relatively unspoilt.
Getting there
By far the easiest way to get to Normandy is by ferry.
You can also fly to Orly and Roisy- Charles de Gaulle, but then you’d need to take a train to Nomandy, which really could be a hassle travelling with children.
Driving in France

Not only do you drive on the right in France, but all of the speed and distance signs are in kilometres.
Also worth knowing:
Your insurance should cover you third party in France, but check with your insurance company before you go and you may also want to increase your insurance cover.
Service stations often close at 6pm and on Sundays. It may be difficult to find a service station that is open 24 hours.
