Feature for September - autumn breaks

1 September 2008

Summer never really got away in the UK and it has certainly gone now. However, looking on the bright side we can take a break not far from home and not actually expect the weather to be warm and dry! For me, anyway, the joy of September is that I no longer wake each morning hoping to see the sun shining. Instead I can enjoy the leaves turning the lovely colours of autumn and wear jumpers without a hint of disappointment or annoyance!

Now is the time to take advantage of some lovely weekends away in this country at a fraction of the cost of summer breaks and no flights or airport waits! Travelodge are fantastic, for example, for providing cheap, clean rooms. You can get a family room for no extra cost. Some rooms are as little as £29 per night; a bargain!
We have stayed in many Travelodges and for us it’s good to know what you’re going to get as most Travelodges are identically furnished. If I have one gripe, and it won’t matter now, is that the rooms tend to get very hot in warm weather and there is no air conditioning nor can you open the windows more than an inch or two. As I said though, not a problem now!

If you want more than a base to travel from you could look at cottages. Hoseasons Country Cottages and Cottages4you will book for 3 or 4 nights.

Look on the bright side; summer is so last season, celebrate autumn with a short break!
